2008-12-12 Firing

I went to Clayworks on Friday night to help unload the kiln, photograph the 100 pots, and throw some big pots. I didn't get a chance to make any big pots, but I helped unload the kiln and took my photos. A big thanks goes out to Elaine for coming down so I could take a picture of her with my 100 pots since it was her challenge that started my journey.

It was a very good firing with lots of reduction for several of my pieces. Greg, Elaine, and I were the only witnesses and as usual, it was quite an educational experience. The firing process seems as much an art as a science since every firing is a bit different.

Greg has just opened the kiln.

My haul.

Wow. Some stunning pieces there, Johnny boy! Congrats! I wonder, did you have a favourite piece? And did you sell that one at your Home Sale?

Nice haul! I particularly like the plates and the the mug in the middle of the spread. Well done.

Thanks everyone! I will try to finish up the other two posts I started Saturday morning that will show more items in detail.

Becky girl-
I held a couple of pieces back. I might sell them one day, but I want them to be near me for a while at least.

Jerry-
You have good taste. :^) Those are some pieces I plan to make more of in the future.
