2016-12-13 - Tuesday - Food and bisque

While I've recently been cutting back to lose weight, I sometimes still eat a large breakfast. Most days I skip lunch or have a small supper, so splurging once in a while at breakfast is not such a big deal. Today was migas with spinach and cheese, half an avocado, leftover baked beans, and an English muffin --a truly international breakfast. This was followed by a skipped lunch and a small supper. Currently down 15 pounds over two months with a ways more to go.

I unloaded the bisque kiln on Tuesday evening. It was full of mine, Judith's, Ju-Ian's, and student work. It's nice to share.

2016-05-31 - Tuesday - Breakfast and beer

Tuesday I made a big breakfast (at about 1:30 pm) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I do like breakfast no matter what time of day or night.

Tuesday afternoon I was shopping for beer and found this. I will have to try it at some point, but I was making better use of my money that day. I bought a 12-pack for the same amount.

2015-08-15 - Saturday - Chicken quesadilla

Saturday I used some leftover chicken to make a quesadilla. I added avocado, ripe olives, and a homegrown tomato that Karen's brother, Scott grew in PA. It was wonderful.

2015-07-22 - Wednesday - Migas

Lately I've been making different variations of migas. Here is the beginning of today's dish with corn tortilla, red bell pepper, and baby spinach. To that I added scrambled eggs with taco seasoning and shredded cheese. Once it's finished I top it off with some Cholula sauce and slide half an avocado onto the plate. It makes me very happy.

Some days I use onions and leftover peas, sometimes some tomatoes, whatever I have handy. It's all good.

2014-07-06 - Sunday - Food and flowers

Sunday I made one of my favorite omelets that I get when we go to Toast.  It's got tomato, avocado, and parmigiano reggiano cheese.  It turned out great and I will be making this again in the future.

I purchased some lilies at the supermarket to replace the fading roses from last week.  When I got home with them I decided the roses still had some life left in them so I just pushed the lilies into the middle.  I frequently buy the marked down flowers at Harris Teeter.  It's hard to beat a $3.00 bouquet of flowers.

I also picked up some Aunt Nellie's red cabbage.  I've never met Aunt Nellie, but she sure makes some good red cabbage.

2014-03-28 - Friday - Breakfast

Friday I had one of my new favorite breakfasts.  Soft-boiled eggs, spinach, and rice.  Sometimes I add half an avocado on the side.  The runny yoke goes very well with the spinach and the rice.  The Matt Jones bowl just makes it all taste better.
