Barrel Firing # 5 - The Halloween Edition

Barrel firing number 5 was held on Friday, October 31 -- Halloween so we just had to celebrate. Many people attended the lighting of the barrel but the numbers dwindled quickly until there was just the core group left. We stayed way too late, but it was fun.

On Saturday morning we met at the studio and took the light rail to the convention center for the American Craft Council Show. The ACC show never disappoints and we saw a lot of inspirational work. The artists are always so friendly and love to discuss their technique so there is a lot to absorb and I wish I had taken some notes on the spot. Ahhh... more things to try.

Lighting the barrel.

Yup, it worked.

Some of the "regulars".

Pete treated us to some songs he's written.

We had several pumpkins, carved and uncarved.

Nice, blue flame.

Elaine and Becky inspecting after
we put the sleeve around the barrel
and "tucked it in" for the night.

You can find more pictures on Amy's, Becky's (one), Becky's (two), and Elaine's blogs.

Wow! You got some great pix too, and WHAT a fun video! Great soundtrack you provided too. Thanks for always being a part of the firings and hope you can attend the next one. It's scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for letting me hang out with the cool kids. Next firing: try and keep me away.

Great video (although catching me vainly getting my hair in place!!--) It was a great fun firing. It takes all of us to make it the fun event....and it would be nothing without the tunes!! Loved going to the ACC and even our ability to disagree!! Next firing: One or two of your pots!!!

Hey John I've got to watch the video , but the pics are good. I have to make it up for a barrel firing sometime soon.

I thought you saw me videoing when you put your bat glasses on. It's always fun to have SOME disagreement --total agreement gets boring. :^)

Next firing: maybe more than one or two (but not a hundred).

Ron-

Please do. It's a lot of fun. Apparently the next one is scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Woo-Hoo! (Hopefully none of the pots will turn out to be turkeys.)

Elaine-

Jen-

We never get more than 5-10 kids are our house and my wife was there.

Stephanie had never carved a pumpkin. I've carved (and eaten) lots of 'em.
