2016-01-27 - Wednesday - Wingless Moths, Empty Bowls, Decals

When I went out to get the mail on Wednesday I noticed some of the female wingless canker worm moths clinging to the front porch so I started looking around and saw hundreds of them all over the eaves of the house. They are very confused. At least they will not get to the tops of the trees to lay their eggs.

When I wedged up some recycled clay I noticed some phoenix running through the bag. When I trimmed the pots I found that vein still prominent in the clay.

More Empty Bowls, but you knew that. :8^)

For a while Adrienne (our executive director at Clayworks) thought it would be good to have our logo on the wall where the workshops take place. It was installed today and I agree with her that it will stand out in photos from now on. Nicely done.

2016-01-24 - Sunday - Whole Foods

Sunday, to alleviate a bit of cabin fever Karen and I dropped off some recycling and went to Whole Foods. I was mostly unimpressed, but I found the soap interesting so I picked up a couple of bars.

For healthy shopping choices I think I'll stick to Earth Fare, the fact that it's a North Carolina company only adds to it's appeal. We also like that they list all the ingredients on their baked goods so we always know what we're getting.

2016-01-23 - Saturday - More Winter and Food (and Pottery)

Saturday we awoke to more winter precipitation so we stayed home once again. It was quiet and cozy at home.

Saturday night I broiled pork chops and served them on a John Vigeland serving dish from East Fork Pottery. I used some of that blooming rosemary.

2016-01-22 - Friday - Snow Day

Friday was a snow day with snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Since we were all stuck at home I made breakfast which today was a Dutch Baby. Good stuff.

It snowed/sleeted/rained on and off for most of the day and into the night. It's always so pretty and quiet when it snows.

I have some rosemary sprigs that I rooted from a plant that grows in the Clayworks courtyard. They have been in water for over a year and while they usually look pretty miserable, I noticed it blooming today. A nice surprise.

2016-01-21 - Thursday - Sky Full of Empty Bowls

Thursday I was driving home and thought the sky was pretty serene so I grabbed a photo on op of my steering wheel.

After supper I went to Clayworks to work on --you guessed it, Empty Bowls.

2016-01-20 - Wednesday - Empty Bowls

January means Empty Bowls for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina Empty Bowls event. At Clayworks we donate 300 bowls every year and I am honored to help make them. This is the first batch of many.

Empty Bowls is a wonderful event and you should go, but get tickets now as they ALWAYS sell out.
