Friday afternoon I helped Susan Meadows load a bisque kiln we were sharing. We had some of her faces, some of mine, and several other pieces in there.
This bush in the courtyard was draped in it's autumn best. I didn't realize the photo was a bit blurry, but I think it is still worth including. Beautiful color change.

2016-11-06 - Sunday - Autumn day
Sunday was the day we headed back home after the funeral. While it was a sad time for all of us, the extraordinary beauty of the day reminded us that while our hearts are broken, there is still a lot of beauty and good in the world around us.

2014-11-17 - Monday - MAJOR Catch-up Part 3
October 22 we left the Grand Bohemian Hotel and I took a few photos before we left.
October 23 - new garlic pots.
October 24 - Ballantyne Village - added shelves.
October 26 - Glazing
It always takes three times longer than I think to glaze my pots.
October 27 - Front yard
October 29 - Stuff
I have three American Hazelnuts in the back yard courtesy of my friend Nick. I call them Manny, Moe, and Jack for no apparent reason other than there are three of them. Every autumn they turn in a wave, starting with Manny and every year I find that interesting.
I love sunsets, but if you've been reading this blog for any length of time you knew that.
October 31 - More autumn sights.

2013-11-23 - Saturday - Yard, pots, home tour
Saturday I worked in the yard for a while cleaning up leaves. I really like our maple trees in all seasons, but when they turn that flame orange/gold in Autumn they light up the yard. It's a mess, but it's a beautiful mess.
.
Later I went to Clayworks to pick up my work from the latest firing. I was pleased that it was good firing (it usually is). Some of these pots will be for sale next month at my holiday sale.
Later Karen and I went to Home-A-Rama to walk through wonderful homes that we will never be able to afford, but it's still fun to take the tour.

2010-11-18 Thursday - A Fine Mess
Thursday found a new development in the back yard. Nature had repainted the yard while we slept. It's beautiful to look at, but a lot of work to clean up. We go through several of these leaf falls every Autumn. No sooner do we get one cleared away then the next one comes down. This cycle continues into January.
.
Color everywhere.
Yes, there is a deck under that new coating.
Of course there are WAY more left on the trees.
I love taking photos in different lighting.
The dappled sunlight.
More lighting fun.

What a beautiful mess
It's that time of year again. We are raking up leaves and putting them at the curb. It's a lot of work and something we generally dread, but sometimes one has to stop and notice the beauty of the situation.
We are used to looking in wonder at a single leaf in autumn and at a yard full of them as a chore, but if you stop and look at a large fall of leaves after some wind and/or rain you might come away with a different opinion.

It's still a colossal chore staring you down, but it's also a beautiful painting to be admired for a moment before the cussing and ibuprofen start.
Today's assignment: Find beauty in something you hate or dread.
