2015-07-27 - Monday - Rest and wildlife

Monday we continued doing our shore things and having lots of fun. In the words of Elmer Fudd, "west and wewaxation". Oh, and long walks on the beach.

Approaching sunset.

Whenever we visit another beach I miss all the wildlife I see in Ocean City. Whether we're at Rehoboth, DE, Destin, FL, or Myrtle Beach, SC I never see the creatures I encounter in NJ. As an example all along the beach there are baby clam beds like the one below.

Baby clams in the surf.
As soon as the wave leaves, they burrow back into the sand.
They may all look white in this video, but they are several pastel colors.

2015-05-09 - Saturday - Stephanie's Graduation

Been a long time. Let's catch up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Saturday, May 9, 2015, Stephanie graduated from Western Carolina University.
It was glorious. We are very proud.
Stephanie is the first person in my family to get a college degree and it was the proudest day of my life. It was joyous. I teared up, but I had the biggest smile on my face that you can imagine.
Congratulations Stephanie! I'm sure you will continue to do great things.
2014-08-14 - Thursday - Long walk & scooter rides
Thursday morning I woke up early and went for a long walk.  First I went to the lake where I saw some large carp feeding near the bank, some turtles, and some minnows in about a 15 foot section of the bank.  Apparently the lake is full of life.  From there I went to the beach again to see what was happening there.  Some fishermen were surf casting but I didn't see them pull anything out.
In the afternoon Stephanie, Justin, and I went to check out scooter rentals.  Stephanie and I rented a "coupe" which is a three-wheeled plastic vehicle built with a scooter engine and Justin rented a scooter.  When we got back to the house we asked my father-in-law if he wanted to take a ride.  He RAN to the coupe and hopped in.  To say he had a blast would be an understatement.  Justin followed us and we took him down to the main street for a frozen custard cone.
When we came back I took Karen out for a spin and then it was time to take it back so we didn't have to pay for another hour.
2010-01-01 Friday - New Year's Day
New Year's Day we were at my brother-in-law Scott's for our big holiday dinner.  Scott is a great cook and always does most of the cooking at our get togethers.  We appreciate it and make him proud by eating way more than we should.  The cousins love to hang out together on these trips and have a great time.
Justin and Ryan decorated the tree.
The kids don't get along at all.  :8^)
Clockwise from top:  Uncle Scott's feet, Ryan's feet,
Meredith holding Justin's hands,
Stephanie being crushed by Justin's feet.
Ah!  Dinner time!
Ryan, Meredith, Justin, Stephanie, Audrey.
Karen, Eva, Pop-pop, Ryan, Meredith, Justin.
As you can see, everyone is having a terrible time.
After a big meal, everyone chills watching TV.
It's nice to be home during the holidays.
Here's to a great 2010!
