2017-03-25 - Saturday - Pots and ferns

Saturday I went to Clayworks where I made some mug bodies and stretched out the handsquatch pot a bit further.

When I came home I cut the grass and inspected the flower beds. I found the fiddle heads unfolding on the Christmas ferns. I love seeing the fiddle heads come up.

2016-07-19 - Tuesday - New pot

As I've mentioned here before, sometimes a pot is just too round. At times like that extreme measures are often called for to remedy the situation.

...or just stretch the hell out of it.

This pot needs to firm up a bit before I can continue to work on it.

Round is a shape --it's just not the only shape.

2015-10-21 - Wednesday - New pots

Wednesday I finally got back to making pots again. Don't ask me what that one of he left is about; it started out completely differently and I'm not sure I'm keeping it. The middle one will be stretched more once it firms up a bit and the one one the right will have handles added to it. As usual, I'll see where they take me.

2014-03-19 - Wednesday - Meh

I worked on the two pots from last night (two on the right) and am not impressed with my modifications.  The collar on the middle pot is way too large and off-center, and by messing with them I lost all the lift in the bottom third of the forms.  I haven't decided whether I'm going to keep these pots but I will try to remember these lessons in the future.

The pot on the left is completely stretched to its limit.  Once again, I'm not sure how I want the rim to finish, but I will be more careful with it this time.

2014-03-18 - Tuesday - New forms

I am trying to put more volume in my forms and I'm trying to stretch them as far as I can.  I made these two pots on Tuesday and really like the form on the left.  I want to finish the rim, but I'm not sure how I want to do it yet.  We'll see.
