2017-03-09 - Thursday - Refrigerator

Thursday our refrigerator arrived. We really like it but are a bit concerned that the right door is unable to open or close without the ice maker hitting the other door. I've tried adjusting it with no luck. It might just be bent. I think we need a replacement.

That is not a combination lock on the refrigerator, just a magnetic timer, but I think it looks pretty cool.

2017-03-04 - Saturday - Busy, busy, busy

Saturday was Muddy Fun day at Clayworks. As usual we had a nice group of students and volunteers.

At the mid point of the class I usually sit down, finish something on the wheel and tell everyone, "This is our next project...". It always gets a laugh.

Saturday I threw a bottle and we laughed.

I left the room for a while to handle some other things and when I returned several people had copied my bottle! Most of these students had never thrown before and they managed to make bottles with narrow necks. We were amazed.

My bottle.

Student bottle.

Later Karen and I went to the Southern Spring Show and after that to Burton's where we sat at the bar and had some hamburgers.

When we got home I pulled the molding off the kitchen doorway and removed the pocket door so we can fit the new refrigerator through it when it gets here. Yee-ha.

2017-03-03 - Friday - Refrigerator

We are replacing our ~27 year old refrigerator and because of that I cleaned off the old one. Without all the magnets and photos it looks like we already have a new one, albeit an almond one which rather dates it.

2017-02-20 - Monday - Stuff

On Sunday evening the front burner on our cooktop arced out while I was cooking. After 18 years it finally gave up.

On Monday I checked with GE and found out the replacement element costs $97.00 and the shorted switch costs $85.00. Since we bought the whole cooktop for $165.00 we figured it was time for a new one.

We went to Lowe's and ended up ordering a new glass cooktop which will arrive on March 15.

Yes, I said March 15! I didn't know they were building it specifically for us.

While we were there (during the Presidents Day Sale) Karen found a French-door refrigerator that she really likes. Seeing as our refrigerator is about 27 years old, the new one looked even better.

Since we were out shopping for appliances and our cooktop was down we stopped by one of our favorite local spots for some Chinese food.

Since my laptop died a few weeks ago, I ordered a new one on Amazon. It's running Windows 10 and during the setup I had to answer these questions about privacy. Needless to say, I turned them all off and you should too.

What worries me is that for each question I am asked I figure there are about ten others I don't get any options on. Remember privacy? You know, when every company in the world didn't need to track every bit of information about you 24/7? I do, and the current state of things is depressing.

Remember: Just say, "No."

Refrigerator break

Quick refrigerator message from October 9...

.

Catch up - again

So much has happened and I've been so busy that it all just happened without time to document it.  I will try to fast forward a bit and get back on some semblance of regular postings.

Finally, a more positive message from Meredith:
