2017-11-29 - Wednesday - Raku fire fish
Wednesday night I fired the fish in the raku kiln at Clayworks.
Before I get to that, here is a photo of the trees at Clayworks from last night (ok, it was morning). The light was very strange; it made me think I was on another planet. Interesting.
Now, on to the raku firing...
On the way home I was taken with some Christmas lights and thought I'd make another pass and video them.

2017-11-28 - Tuesday - Glazing fish
Tuesday I glazed the batch of fish I made back in May(?!). I had no idea I'd had them so long. I'm trying some new glaze ideas on this batch, as always. If things go well, I'll fire them tomorrow night.

2017-08-16 - Wednesday - Bisque kiln
Wednesday I loaded a bisque kiln. I had quite a bit of work going all the way back to my first set of fish for the totem.
I also bisque fired the three-face pot. I've decided the bottom guy looks a bit stoned and it was even more pronounced when he was reclining in the kiln. Well he is made out of stoneware...

2017-05-20 - Saturday - Fish
Saturday I decided to try to make some fish for a totem and use some of the ideas Lana Wilson shared with us.
So far so good. Let's see where these go.

2017-05-18 - Thursday - Moving sale and fish
Thursday night I went to the Moving Sale at Free Range Brewing. For the Moving Sale Rebecca and Grace rent a box truck, hang art on the walls and allow people to browse and buy. Everything is $40 or less. Clever.
After checking out the Moving Sale, I went to Clayworks and made some more fish.

2017-01-27 - Friday - Photos
I took some better photos of my raku fish and they're still making me giggle. I'm enjoying them and will make more when I can.

2017-01-26 - Thursday - Baked fish
Thursday night I fired four loads of raku while trimming more Empty Bowls. This was an important firing for me since I was curious to see how the fish I'd made would come out.
I love them.
I'm really pleased with the results and am planning on making more of them. There are so many glazing options I want to try that I don't know where to begin. Stay tuned.
On the left side you can also see two urns I made for a friend's dog who was mottled with patches of black and white. I made two in case one broke.
I forgot to take a photo of the guinea pig urn (I made two of those, also) before I delivered it to the owner so I asked her to send me a photo of it.

2017-01-17 - Tuesday - Glazing raku
Tuesday I finally got around to glazing the second batch of raku pots I made last year. I was waiting on making some copper sand glaze and it was finally done.

2016-11-17 - Thursday - Faces and fish
Thursday I worked on the faces a bit more. They make me smile.
I also "crash-dried" the raku fish so I could bisque fire them. They make me giggle.

2016-09-08 - Thursday - Teapots and fish
Thursday I made spouts and lids for my teapots. Teapots are quite a bit of work, with lots of individual parts and connections. I don't think people sometimes realize how much work goes into them. I also threw some tea bowls.
I loaded the fish into the bisque kiln along with some of my other pots and a bunch of students' work.

2016-08-21 - Sunday - More fish
Sunday I made some larger fish. They really give me the giggles, especially the one on the left. He just looks so surprised.
These are made with raku clay. With raku they can be really dramatic or junk. We'll see.

2016-08-20 - Saturday - Horses and fish
Saturday I went to Home Depot to buy a five gallon bucket and found this life-size horse skeleton decoration. Pretty strange.
When I got to Clayworks on a whim I started making fish. They made me laugh from the first moment I made them. I think it's a good sign when your work entertains you.

2015-05-30 - Saturday - Pineville Sale
Saturday was the inaugural Pineville Spring pottery sale. It was a hot day and since I didn't use my tent I slathered on the sunscreen and used an umbrella in the afternoon.
The park is a beautiful location and we all set up on one side of the lake. It was fun watching the fish between customers.
The traffic was pretty steady and I was surprised at how many people came out for a daily walk around the lake. A few friends also stopped by to chat and share the nice spring day.

2010-03-12 Friday - Fish
Just in case you haven't noticed, I have added some fish on the right. They are a friendly lot and you can feed them by clicking in the water. They eat all they want and never seem to gain any weight. Something's fishy...
