2017-11-11 - Saturday - Cups In Common

Saturday was the closing day of Cups In Common and our fall fundraiser at Clayworks. I was stationed in classroom three doing demos (and you know how I hate demoing, being as shy as I am).

I was left an apron to wear for the demo. Since I don't normally wear an apron, I put it on backwards, like a cape. It's all fun.

My friends Edson and LuAnn stopped in and Edson took some great photos, as usual.

2016-02-13 - Saturday - Photos and Periscope

Saturday my friend Edson Scudder came by Clayworks to photograph some of my Empty Bowls. Edson likes to play with light and images as much as I like to play with mud and fire. He had some really creative ideas for staging the bowls and we had a lot of fun playing with perceptions. Thank you Edson and please come back anytime.

I noticed this ghostly floating measuring cup in the sink bin.

Later in the day I was trimming some pots and watching Michael Kline paint on a tiny cup on Periscope. It's very relaxing to work on your pots while watching/listening to a master doing his or her work. I just set up the phone next to my wheel and went to work.

October 12 - Saturday CCM Pottery Festival

Saturday was the Carolina Clay Matters Fall Pottery Festival.  We had 66 potters attending in 60 booths.  One of the great things about this group is that even with so many participants it's hard to find two people making the same thing.

Since there was no call for rain I decided not to use my tent.  My glazes look much better in the sunlight and I wanted to show them off to best advantage.

There were a lot of customers and I had many nice conversations.  Oh, and I sold quite a few pots.

My friend Edson took lots of good photos and I've included them here.  I have no idea I'm making these faces when talking to people.  He's got quite the eye for a good photo.  Thanks Edson.

April 13 - Monday - After the festival

Saturday turned out to be a really nice day with the threat of thunderstorms that never materialized.  We had a great turnout and I was so busy that I never turned on my iPod, which is usually a fixture in my booth.  I only got a couple of photos during the show, but my friend Edson Scudder took lots of them.  He is a very good photographer and I am proud to be including some of the ones he took of me and my things.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the pottery festival.  It was great fun.

I was not the last person to arrive, but I was absolutely the last person to leave.
