2015-07-22 - Wednesday - Migas

Lately I've been making different variations of migas. Here is the beginning of today's dish with corn tortilla, red bell pepper, and baby spinach. To that I added scrambled eggs with taco seasoning and shredded cheese. Once it's finished I top it off with some Cholula sauce and slide half an avocado onto the plate. It makes me very happy.

Some days I use onions and leftover peas, sometimes some tomatoes, whatever I have handy. It's all good.

2010-05-20 Wednesday - Yard

I took a walk around the yard on Wednesday afternoon.  I'm happy to report that things are doing nice Springy things around here.

2009-11-21 Saturday - Pottery Sale

Saturday I had a home sale and spent Friday night cleaning the garage and setting up everything. I thought it looked pretty good as my home sales go. I also put out "seconds" tables and after some pondering about prices I came up with a handy-dandy chart. I really want to find some of these pots a good home. There are various defects and mistakes, but they are still functional --even if not for their original purposes. It was a pretty slow day so I think I will try to squeeze another in before Christmas. Stay tuned.

Outside, the leaves were still piling up...

... and yet, I still have tomatoes ripening on the vine.

2009-06-04 Thursday Gardening

Stephanie helped me finish the tomato planting by assisting me in putting down newspaper and pine bark mulch. They are tucked in with lots of compost and soaker hoses under the newspaper/mulch and should be nice and comfy for the summer. I can't wait for that first beefsteak tomato sandwich. Mmmm...

2009-05-03 Sunday yard stuff

I spent most of the afternoon in the yard on Sunday. I am very late in getting my tomato plants into the garden and thought I would work on the bed before planting. I haven't turned my compost pile in ~2 years so I had some great compost waiting for me in the bottom of it.

I also had some unwelcome visitors --some larvae had burrowed up into my compost. I pulled over one hundred of them out while turning the pile and applying it to the garden. They would probably make great fish bait, but I have no plans on going fishing in the near future so they are currently living in a bucket of dirt in my garage. I will either use them as bait or feed the birds.
