2018-01-26 - Friday - Muddy Fun with the ASC

Every year the Arts and Science Council holds a Connect With Culture event on Saturday. This year we had the first ever Muddy Fun with the ASC on the Friday night before the main events. Adrienne asked if I would teach it and I didn't have to think twice about it. I love helping out with Muddy Fun and teaching it if nobody else is available.

This was a first; participants were given a coupon for a beer at Common Market and many used them. Robert Bush, the president of the ASC said a few words to start off the session by welcoming everyone to the first-ever Friday night culture event. Several people took selfies with Mr. Bush before we started getting muddy.

We had a good group of students who picked it right up. It's always so much fun to see people learn something new. Vince and Dorothy were great helpers. I couldn't have done it without them.

We have four more sessions tomorrow. Angela is teaching the first one, Greg is teaching the second two, and I'm teaching the last one. It's going to be a good day.

2016-06-11 - Saturday - Muddy Fun and anniversary

Saturday was Muddy Fun day. We had a small class, but they were a lot of fun. Vince and Dorothy helped me out with it and we all had some laughs.

Three of the five students were there on their Mother's Day celebration. Wow, what good daughters!

Since Saturday marked the five year anniversary of the day Clayworks moved to this building I brought cookies to help celebrate. I think Harris Teeter cookies are the traditional five year anniversary gift.

October 16 - Wednesday - EcoFab Fashion show

Wednesday night I went to the Mint Museum to see the EcoFab Fashion show.  My friends Elaine and Penny both designed dresses for the show.  Many people from Clayworks were in attendance and we had quite a cheering section.  The dresses were very well made and the models had fun displaying them.

October 22 - Charlotte Charity League sale

Friday night I set up for the Charlotte Charity League Showcase of Artisans show on Saturday.

After setting up my display I went to the studio assistants appreciation get together at Clayworks (and was having WAY too much fun to pull out my camera).  We had a good turnout to honor our great studio assistants and we were able to tell them how much we appreciated all the hard work they did moving us to the new building and setting up everything.

Saturday it was back the the Charity League Sale.  The crowds were sparse, but I got to hang out with some friends from Clayworks:  Dorothy and Robin were also participating in the show.  I also made a great new friend named Frances --turns out she is Cary's (one of our instructors and also a good friend) best friend.

Saturday - Spring Barn Sale

Saturday was the Carolina Clay Matters Pottery Guild Spring Barn Sale.  While the sky was threatening, and leaked a few times, it didn't discourage many people from coming out to see us.  Everyone I talked to was having a good day.  Pottery people are not afraid of a little rain.  I'm just glad we weren't selling watercolors.
