March 13 - Pasta time

Tuesday I made a new pasta dish that I found on tastykitchen.com.  I had a pound of local bacon that I purchased from What's Your Beef butcher shop.  (If you have never been to What's Your Beef, check it out when you get a chance.  All locally raised beef, pork and chicken.)

I did a search on bacon and pasta and this was my favorite recipe out of the ones returned.  You can either click here or on the photo for the recipe.

It was a great recipe and everyone in our house liked it.  I cut back on the red pepper flakes since I have some spice-sensitive people here, but added it back on my plate.  I think this recipe would be really nice using peppered bacon.  Give it a try and tell me what you think.

I have made a similar dish with spinach linguini and broccoli, sooo yummy. I'll have to try this one, my family loves penne. If I have to go on a diet with no pasta, you can just go ahead and bury me :)

Have you tried kale with pasta? It's a wonderful combination. I saute the kale with oil, butter, and garlic then mix it with the pasta. Add cannellini beans and some fresh grated parmesan. If you feel really crazy throw some halved grape tomatoes in too.

Now I made myself hungry again...

John, we had a similar thing last night with spinach and a little cream and saute mushrooms and spring garlic. served it with leftover grouper on top...Try kale sliced VERY thin with olive oil, spring onion and or garlic, fine crumbles of parm. cheeze and pine nuts as a raw salad. Would be great with a little crumble of bacon too.
