July 24 - Wednesday - Videos

Wednesday night a strong thunderstorm blew through just before I left for Clayworks.  It shook the trees so hard I had to clean up a bunch of branches in the driveway before I left.  As is the case with the strongest storms, it passed by pretty quickly.

At class I tried out the time-lapse photography app I just installed on my phone.  It worked pretty well and this 13 second video represents 77 minutes of real time.  It was set to shoot a frame every 12 seconds and create the video at 30 fps.  I'm looking forward to playing with this app.

February 22 - Friday stolen video

Chris Staley, Penn State Laureate 2012-13 has some interesting thoughts on mistakes.

Statesville Video

I just saw this on the local news and had to share it.

Apparently, Statesville, NC  has produced a fun new video that incorporates most of downtown.  It was done with two run-throughs and only one take which is mighty impressive when you watch it's complexity.

Every time I watch it I find myself grinning foolishly. It just has that affect on me.





A bit of trivia about Statesville: John Dula was hanged in the town square on May 1, 1868 for the murder of Laura Foster. The Kingston Trio had a major hit in 1958 with the song "Tom Dooley" based on these events.

2010-02-01 Monday - Experiment

I tried out the video creation tool in Picasa and made this video of my glaze test bowls.  It works pretty well and I look forward to playing with it more in the future.

Barrel Firing # 7 - The results

Some people want to see the barrel firing results. I apologize that I posted the BF#7 video way late. The firing was on January 9th ("I will post no video before it's time...") and I just got around to posting it. (See It's a killer to understand why.)

Animated Christmas light display using over 30,000 LED and 400 strobe lights. Display is animated with 176 channels. Music is broadcast over short range FM so viewers don't need to leave the vehicle to hear the music.
