I went to the Thrown Together Sale on Saturday and bought more than I should have. What else is new?

While there I met up with my friend Jackie. I was present when she bought the first piece of pottery for her collection so I had to document it.

2018-02-17 - Saturday - Thonotosassa

Saturday we hung out with my parents in Thonotosassa. We went to breakfast, did some shopping, and then sat out on the patio. My dad has been asking me to bring some pottery with me so I set up a four foot table with some work on it. I sold a few pieces to friends in the park and then I packed it up again as it was getting pretty breezy.

Sometimes it's just nice to kick back and just sit for a while.

2017-07-17 - Monday - Butterflies and pottery

Monday it was time to leave Sylva, after a nice breakfast.

Before leaving, I noticed this dish on the coffee table in Eva's cabin. It's an interesting piece with an interesting surface.

Every time we left the cabins we encountered groups of butterflies on the driveway. They were so involved I had to get out and shoo them away with my foot to make them move.

I thought they were mating, but a friend on Facebook told me they were licking minerals from the ground.

2015-09-04 - Friday - Rain and prizes

Friday we had a short thundershower. It wasn't even enough water to wet the whole grill cover. I'm ready for a full rainy day as it's been a very dry summer.

Friday night I went to Mint Hill Arts for the Earth, Fire, & Water show. It's a wonderful show of water media (2D) and ceramics (3D). I have four pieces in the show and was honored to have one of my pieces named second place in the pottery category. Unfortunately, in the hub-bub I neglected to get photos of the whole room or the 2D art (which was beautiful!). There was quite a turnout and I was quite busy catching up with old friends.

I grabbed photos of the pottery winners and that's as far as I got. I need to go back and re-enjoy the 2D art again before the show comes down on September 25th. If you're in the area you need to check it out too.

2015-04-06 - Monday - Over 1000 posts!

I have apparently lost track of the number of times I have posted to this blog. Today I looked over to the side of the edit page and noticed that I've written 1057 posts. It doesn't seem like I could have written that many posts since 2006, but there it is. I know people that post way more than I do, but I had no idea I had that much to say, especially looking back at my beginnings.

Here is the first one from June 2006.

When I first started this blog I thought it would be a good way to keep family and friends informed about what was happening in our lives. It's been that and so much more. As you know I post a lot of my pottery progress here, my interesting photographs, and a lot of my observations and feelings about things. It changes constantly as my life and interests do.

Wherever it's heading, here's to the next 1000 posts.

2014-02-28 - Friday - TGIF

This week was crazy.

Work was a bear and I had to wrestle with everything I tried to accomplish.

I put more than 600 miles on my van and many more on my brain and body.

Working under the pressure of having customers' servers down really wears on you.  They are at a standstill if the email server or data server is down for any length of time.  If you have to do it, keep it short or it will drain you.  If you're like me you feel the weight of the whole company on your back while you mentally run through every possibility of what could be wrong and try to make valid decisions in a hurry.

Luckily I've been doing this for quite a while now and usually have more than one way to find a fix for problems, but it doesn't make it any less stressful when you're staring at a screen and none of the results make sense.

Welcome to the IT industry.

On to pottery...

I only managed to get to the studio for a couple of hours on Wednesday night to trim some cups.  I am planning on spending some hours in the studio tomorrow to get some pots made.
