2016-03-25 - Friday - Another Sign of Spring

Another sign of spring is the pollen that coats everything this time of year. It's everywhere, even in our lungs and sinuses.

2015-03-19 - Thursday - Pollen and twigs

Today the pollen showed up, right on schedule. When I left the dentist I noticed it on the back window of the van. Well, breathing was fun while it lasted.

After sweeping up all the chewed-off twigs yesterday a whole new batch was on the ground from the MSFH (Mutant Squirrels From Hell). I hate those guys.

2015-03-17 - Tuesday - Spring & glazing

Spring is coming in this week. The trees are budding and the weather is warming. It's like an old friend is back to visit for a while. Familiar and warm with lots of surprises popping up out of the ground.

Unfortunately it brings it's annoying cousin: pollen.

Tuesday night I went to Clayworks to finish glazing. I wanted to put some underglaze on some of the pots I didn't finish the other day. I am starting to bring some of the elements I used on my Empty Bowls into my cone 10 work. I'm not sure where it's going to go from here, but it'll turn up here eventually.

April 18 - Thursday Busy

It's happened again.  Life got in the way and I haven't been posting here.  Things are busier than ever between work, home, pottery, volunteering, etc.  It's life in a blender, just like everybody else.

Onward.

Last week while I was out cutting the lawn, which is growing like Spring hay, I looked around.

Overnight quite a bit of pollen had collected on my van and everywhere else.  That's Spring in the South.  Trees having sex on the breeze and all of us caught in the middle.

The new Autumn ferns we planted in the front yard are throwing up all new heads.  I am happy to see that.

I also watched three hawks doing intricate circles over the yard for a while, but couldn't get a decent picture of them.

When I came back in the house to shower I found this guy waiting for me in the bathroom.

All this in only about an hour and a half and I still had the rest of the day ahead of me.

2010-04-08 Thursday - Backyard

Thursday I took a quick tour of the backyard to check on the pollen, catkins, peas and lettuce.  Things change so quickly this time of year you have to take a look every day or two.  By June I won't be able to keep up with anything but the tomatoes.  We'll see if I can do better this year.
