2017-06-15 - Thursday - Heading north

Thursday we took a ride north to check out some of the sights.

We went to Diamond Head, but the parking lot was full and people were walking about a half a mile from another parking lot at the bottom. That walk was before the hike up the hill so we decided to skip it and keep moving.

We stopped at the Koko Head scenic lookout to, well... look out.

These people were fishing and getting very wet.

The crater.

We were here.

Back in the car and off to Turtle Bay Resort. We had lunch right on the beach and watched a guy surfing with his dog.

Later we were scheduled for a sunset cruise around Honolulu. We had heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. I had another coconut porter.

Honolulu.

Diamond Head.

Closer view of Diamond Head.

The only rainbow we saw.

It was a wide one.

2016-07-16 - Saturday - Muddy Fun and then some

Saturday at Clayworks was Muddy Fun day. We had a great group of people and volunteers and we had Muddy Fun. Go figure.

At the end I was heading to the recycle bucket to dump my pot when my hand slipped, the bat dipped, and the pot flew off and onto the side of the recycle bucket. I couldn't have planned it any better. It just stuck there.

Muddy Fun!

Lucky shot.

Definitely clay only.

It's sad when an icon fades.

Apparently the Pixar lamp now needs a little help to stand. Age catches up with all of us.

Later we went to Bad Daddy's for some burgers and while we were waiting for a table we were treated to a well defined rainbow.

June 18 - Tuesday - Lumberton

I was working in Lumberton on Tuesday and as I was leaving I grabbed this photo of a rainbow ending on the building of my customer.  I think it's a good sign that the company is associated with a rainbow.

July 27 - Rainbow

Driving back from Lillington I stopped near Troy for gas and saw this rainbow across the street.  It was already fading by the time I got my camera out to snap this.

Later, on the road I saw a double rainbow that met the ground on both ends.  The "main" rainbow was so vibrant and solid that it looked like sherbert.  I had never seen a rainbow that looked so solid before and I desperately wanted to get a photo of it, but there was no place to stop.

To top it off, the whole time I was watching it I was listening to Radiolab from NPR and they were talking about how we perceive colors, such as in rainbows.  I can't express how amazed I was a the coincidence I was enjoying.  It was a great show and I may never look at colors the same way again.
