2015-05-24 - Sunday - More glazing bowls

Sunday I returned to Clayworks to continue glazing bowls. These bowls are the ones I've been having fun with, applying doodles and swipes with reckless abandon. It really is fun.

2015-05-23 - Saturday - Glazing and low country boil

Saturday I went to Clayworks and glazed a bunch of bowls... a bunch of bowls.

Later on it was time to go to our neighbors for a low country boil. Sheilah and Cam had quite a feast lined up for us. We were celebrating Cam's and Sam's birthdays and the celebration was in full swing with everyone enjoying some good food and fellowship.

2015-05-20 - Wednesday - Two-piece pot

Wednesday I made a new two-piece pot and it's pretty casual. When it dries a bit I'll carve it a bit and give more personality.

Tuesday I made more garlic pots. They are pretty popular and I enjoy making them. Let's see where they lead me.

Saturday I went to Clayworks and made a couple more garlic pots.

2015-05-14 - Thursday - Slipping

Thursday night I went to Clayworks and slipped some of the bowls I made. I will soon be putting graphic designs on these and glazing them. It's a multi-layer process.

2015-05-13 - Wednesday - Stuff

Wednesday I was out in the yard for a few minutes with Binkley and documented a few things.

We have a volunteer pumpkin vine
coming up in the compost pile.

I'm beginning to think we planted
the hazelnuts too close together

Binkley is an old man but he's still full of life.

and have no idea what it is.

That night I went to Clayworks and threw some bowls.

Tuesday I slipped two pots that I made in April. These will get shino and various other surface treatments.

2015-05-11 - Monday - Alex Matisse

Monday I went to the Bechtler Museum for the Alex Matisse talk. It was very well attended (the highest attended Modern Monday ever). I talked to many pottery friends while there. I know, it's hard to imagine that a bunch of pottery enthusiasts would go to hear Alex talk.

2015-05-09 - Saturday - Stephanie's Graduation

Been a long time. Let's catch up.

On Saturday, May 9, 2015, Stephanie graduated from Western Carolina University.

It was glorious. We are very proud.

Stephanie is the first person in my family to get a college degree and it was the proudest day of my life. It was joyous. I teared up, but I had the biggest smile on my face that you can imagine.

Congratulations Stephanie! I'm sure you will continue to do great things.
